Singapore Chilli Crab

This is the before photo of how the crab was served. It is our crab, waiting for us to be ready.

Yesterday we had our first taste of Singapore chilli crab. I think the way in which we ate it would annoy so many people. Even the staff offered to give us lessons at one point.

The “ordeal” was recorded but I won’t have access to the video for about 5 to 8 months. Which means I can’t watch it and cringe, not yet.

The crab itself was beautifully cooked. We were at Jumbo Seafood in Clarke Quay. The sauce was made well and not too spicy hot. I just don’t think I am a huge fan of the taste of crab.

We tried our best

We enjoyed the experience and afterwards, the staff said they prefer the pepper crab, which is a bit hotter in spice. I have had that sauce before, not with crab but other dishes and I also don’t really like that flavour. Even if I did, I don’t think I would be the biggest fan of the dish because it would still be crab.

I made a huge mess. HUGE mess. The claw was so full of meat but I wasn’t super in to the crabby taste of it so I kind of played with it and made a mess.

Yesterday was an amazing end to a 4 day weekend spent with people we have never met before but we now know so much about. They are talented, inspiring, dedicated, generous and just generally all-round amazing people. I hope one day to see them again!
