Honeymoon days 11 to 13

Waking up in Quebec was a great feeling. We could take our time with everything today. Our road trip is now basically over and it has been the first time since we left Vancouver that we really could just relax. We didn’t want to see much more than the old town itself and we saw almost all of it last night while deciding where to have dinner. At some point we have to drive to Montreal but it is just a few hours drive and check in isn’t until the afternoon anyway so we aren’t even thinking about any of that yet. Oversleeping was a bit of an issue until now, we had always planned to be on the road by 7 and then we were waking up at 9am or 10am and feeling behind before we got started. Obviously we needed the sleep at the time though so we couldn’t be too disappointed and the sun was always up very late. Our days were just thrown off. Today is no different. A nice 11am …

Honeymoon days 9.5 – 11

I am excited to talk about Bora Bora, TW has some photos and video he really wants to share and I think there is a lot of expectation but not a whole lot of people know someone who has been so there isn’t much first-hand information on it. Well we, don’t always go to tropical destinations. In fact, we have a lot of different kinds of holidays and our Honeymoon was the first of it’s kind. I have been distracted while in Tahiti, Tikehau, and Bora Bora so I will get back to our Honeymoon. My BIL arrives in Ottawa in less than a week and he really wants my insights to be ready before he goes. At least, he is kind enough to imply that he is interested in our trip and recommendations. So this one is for you Bro 🙂 We are sitting at about 9 and a half days since leaving home and close to a week in Canada, we started in Vancouver and are now between Niagara Falls and Ottawa. For …

Honeymoon day 8-9.5

I have to say, given this has taken over 6 months, I have forgotten a lot of the details of our trip. I know a lot of people who look forward to their honeymoon – more than they look forward to their wedding. In some cases I am sure their honeymoon was the highlight of the two events. For us, I am not sure there will ever be a trip or experience that rivals that of our wedding. Our wedding was initially going to be spread over multiple days, venues and ceremonies, to have the more traditional Indian experience and to have a different ceremony or blessing in each city. We wanted to make each part of the trip that little bit more special than just another city on the tour. We changed that to accommodate family and friends who were thinking they could only come on the wedding day. They did not want to tour India with us… but they did want to be at our wedding. We were asked by a few people …

Honeymoon day 6.5 to day 8

From the last post you can see that the sun was setting quite quickly as MT finished up her droning for the day, being daylight saving time, it was already after 9pm and at this stage we were still just outside of Regina with no solid plan on where / when to stop. We start looking at google maps to see some viable options, Winnipeg? Ideally yes, but no, it’s too late to drive that much further. Moosomin, another fantastic town name, just like medicine hat, but still in Saskatchewan, we need to at least make it into Manitoba. Virden, it’s on the right side of the border and a managle drive of ~3 more hours tonight. Off we Set again, TW at the wheel and MT logging into Expedia to find a cheap motel to get some much needed sleep after the banff debacles. Alas, no hotels are showing available online in Virden, we decide there probably are hotels available but with our arrival time and given they are likely small or local hotels they …

Honeymoon 130 hrs + 5 min – 159 hrs

Ok. So that was a pretty intense 5 minutes to get water and my brain wouldn’t shut off. I could picture all the things crawling in the walls, the ghosts, the people. Sometimes supernatural is not about supernatural things but just scary normal people. I was aware pretty quickly it was my reflection in the glass but it didn’t make the thoughts that I had in those moments go away or the ones that were coming stop. My sleep was non existent. If I closed my eyes I could see every scary movie, tv show, urban legend and if they were open I could see ghosts and ghouls in the darkness. Shadow creepers trying to get to me, weaving their way through the tree branches on the wall. Waiting for the right gust of wind to cast the right shadow through the curtain so they could get to me. Tossing and turning, trying to sleep, afraid to sleep. The hours passed. I dozed. No real sleep. Any sleep I got was accidental and would result …

Honeymoon 130-130+ 5 minutes

We were getting settled in to our room, it was a hot room so I went outside to the Ice and Vending room we passed on the way to our parking spot. It was just outside our room. The rooms were arrange in a I – I manner, where I were the blocks of rooms and the ‘-‘ was the ice and vending room and it looked to be a supply closet. The rooms on the ground level, which we were on even though at check in we were told level one (the lovely lady was from Denman so I know she speaks the same version of Aussie as me), had a front and back door. Our back door opened to the ‘-‘ part of the building but the door to ice and vending was on the other side. We were 1 room in and there was a gate from the store room to our building preventing people walking in to the block any further than the first room. So I had to walk through …
