Two Fridays ago, we booked a hotel stay for 6-8 April as an anniversary, Easter & birthday present. We booked 20 minutes before the Singapore PM announced the 4 week shut down. Rather than stay on our anniversary or Easter we picked a weekday. Less crowded, avoiding the holidays/peak times.
We got a call the next day to say the hotel has to close on the 7th based on the PM’s announcement so we could move our booking until anytime after the “circuit-breaker”. That just felt a little too long so rather than stay two nights, we swapped to one night and moved it forward to stay that Sunday.
And what a Stay it was. We were upgraded to a suite with a bay view on the corner so we also had the city view. I got a lovely cake and card for my Birthday.
We had a great dinner, breakfast and lunch (I wrote about the lunch here).
Staying Sunday night meant the day time was Monday, a workday. Triston was working, working from the hotel instead of working from home. He had a meeting finishing at 4:45pm.
Being globalist means he gets a 4pm late check out. Which is great. Especially after getting a 9am check in (we had a hospitality suite – standard room – until our actual room was ready. We probably wouldn’t have gone to the hotel so early had we realised, Triston got a text to say his room was ready so we went over but it wasn’t the suite that was ready).
Very kindly on Monday at lunch, we were offered an 8pm late check out. We left at roughly 5pm but it was great to have the option to stay until 8pm.
It was the perfect pre ‘circuit breaker’ stay.
