Singapore – Day 19

This morning I went to Breakfast alone. It was ok. Staff asked if TW was joining me and I told them no he is in Bangkok for work until Friday now. Breakfast didn’t take as long because I usually just pick what I want and eat it, which is what I did, but TW faffs about, eventually decides on something. That something becomes first breakfast. He then faffs about while deciding what to have as second breakfast. Finally he will get up for second breakfast, come back with a coffee and then go and get his second meal for the morning. I was in and out in 15 minutes, so that was nice. No wasted hour for Mr faffs a lot.

I did some travel researching for a booking and then went to get lunch. I could have had a set lunch with a drink for $5.50 instead I decided on noodles with chicken wings and some deep fried wontons which they called dumplings. I went to the Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle shop at Bugis. It is between Liang Seah Street (it is the street with the unit that has the bathroom that is too small, but I still like the unit) and Tan Quee Lan street which also has a unit that I like but the current tenant might be staying on so I can’t get in to look at it properly. This is a story about my glorious lunch though and not where to live.

They have a noodle dish with the dumplings or you can get the deep fried wanton dumplings on their own. I had to reconfirm a couple of times I didn’t want two noodle dishes. I got it to take away as I have drinks and air conditioning in the hotel. It wasn’t too hot or muggy outside but I would rather eat it with a free drink if I can.

It wasn’t until I got back to the room that I saw how everything was packaged up. So the wings and dumplings were in their own bags. The noodles were in a box, when I opened the box I found that the noodles were actually in a bag in the box. So very interesting. So I had to open the bag and tip the noodles out then put the chicken wings on top to construct the dish as I had ordered it. Or, I didn’t have to do that and I could keep the wings crispy. I did do that though. I had chilli in the box, not in the bag just in the box. I removed it and then assembled the dish.

The wontons/dumplings were magical. Honestly the best deep fried wonton or dumpling I have had. The wrapper tasted like crispy chicken skin, the inside was so fresh and perfect. I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t the deliciousness that I got. I did expect something good but this was delightful.

The people were hanging by the window again.

So for dinner I was late, I didn’t get it until after 9:30. I got the ham and cheese baguette from downstairs. It wasn’t exciting. It was very filling though. I added parmesan, I love parmesan, that we had left over from the pizza and pasta TW got the other day. Nom nom, ham and double cheese.

Elf went to Bangkok with TW, here she is in her new room, keeping her new hotel staff entertained. She was a bit tired after the flight but is adjusting to her Thai life nicely. TW had his meetings cancelled today so he just stressed about work and then went out for dinner with his work team in Bangkok.
